Blueberry is certainly better known than Bilberry. They are very similar but they are not the same. Actually, both are not referring to a single species but several of them. Bilberry is a native of the temperate and subarctic regions in Europe. Blueberry is a native of North America. While Blueberry is mostly cultivated, Bilberry is hardly seen in cultivation but almost entirely grown wildly. And this is exactly why Bilberry is more prized – due to its rarity and natural entirety.

Bilberry has been used a traditional herb for thousands of years in Europe. Blueberry, on the other hand, is used as a food in the form of jam, pie, jelly and muffin. • Is it better to drink pomegranate juice than eating pomegranate fruits?

For most fruits, such as apples, nutritionists would recommend the fruits over the juice. That’s because you can have intake of more nutrients when you eat the whole fruits. This is not the case for PomeFresh pomegranate juice. PomeFresh juice is made from the whole fruit – including the skin. Pomegranate fruits have a thick leathery skin which is not suitable for human consumption. However the skin is the where most of the mineral and nutrients are. This is probably why traditional medicine such as Chinese Medicine uses the pomegranate skin as the medicine. When you eat the fruit, you can only eat the seeds and pulp, not the skin. When you drink PomeFresh juice, you take in all the nutrients including those from the skin. This is why taking PomeFresh juice gives more benefits than eating the fresh fruits.

Humans can convert ALA to EPA and DHA in their bodies too, especially if they reduce their consumption of Omega-6 oils and meat. In other words, you will have EPA and DHA in your body when you take flaxseed or flaxseed oil. The advantage of fish oil is that you take in EPA and DHA directly. The drawback of fish oil is that it is more expensive. There are also the pollutants the fish might take in while in the sea. Fish oil can also be a turn-off for people who do not like fishy taste. In addition to that, fish oil is a no go for people who are vegetarian.

Flax, by far, has the highest Omega-3 oil contents. Canola oil and walnuts have reasonably high levels of Omega-3 oil contents too.

                                                • What are EFAs and why do I need them?

Like protein, vitamins and minerals, Omega-3 and Omega-6 EFAs (essential fatty acids) must be obtained in proper balance from food or supplements.

+ EFAs are important for the health of your cardiovascular and immune systems.
